Went
To Bethlehem
By-Amanda D. Petty
Last night, I went
to Bethlehem.
I met the three
wise men and the shepherds.
I wasn’t surprised
by the way they looked.
The shepherds were
very tired from traveling.
They had some sheep
following them.
The three kings
looked rich.
They had very
colorful garments on.
They were carrying
gifts for The Holy Child.
I followed them to
see Him.
The streets were
busy, crowded, and noisy.
As we were going to
the Inn,
The keeper said in
his sorry voice,
“He’s in the manger.”
We went to the
stables.
I went in and the
feel was peace, love, and reverent.
I tip-toed to my
King.
He was sleeping.
I just watched him.
Somehow, He knew
that I was there.
He opened His eyes,
and I saw them.
They were filled of
concerned.
He knew me.
He knew what I was
going through.
I had a longing in
my eyes to be near My Savior.
His mother got this
feeling too, and so she asked if I could hold Him.
I just nodded with
tears.
She hand Him to me.
I held The Babe who
will save me.
I felt Heavenly
Father’s love.
We visited for
seconds.
We talked and He
understood my pains.
I didn’t want to
leave Him, but I know I needed to.
I gave My Lord a
kiss.
I gave Mary back
her Son.
I went outside,
crying.
There was a new
star, shining and dancing.
It was like day,
but I could see the moon and stars.
